History
Steve graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.A. in Biology in 1975. He subsequently attended dental school at Loyola University of Chicago and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1979. Thereafter, he completed a one year general practice residency with the Veteran's Administration and University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. During this time, Dr. Folson developed a special interest in periodontology, the study of the supporting structures of the teeth (i.e. gum tissue and bone). In 1980 he returned to Loyola University in Chicago for a two-year residency in periodontics. He was awarded both a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree in 1982. Subsequently, he and his wife, Gretchen, relocated to Arizona to begin his private practice in periodontics in July, 1982. He was the first full-time periodontist in the Sun Cities and Peoria. In 1988, Dr. Folson achieved Diplomate status with The American Board of Periodontology.

Dr. Folson is an experienced dental implant surgeon who specializes in scaling & root planing (SRP), non-surgical chemotherapeutic treatment, pocket reduction with or without bone grafting, surgical treatment to improve esthetics (cosmetic dentistry) and surgical clinical crown lengthening.
