Robert Galamaga, DO, MS, is a hematologist and medical oncologist with Barrow Oncology and the Head and Neck Cancer Program at Barrow Neurological Institute. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Galamaga’s expertise includes caring for patients with head and neck cancers, and advanced cancers that have metastasized to the brain or spine. Dr. Galamaga also has extensive training and experience in the treatment of hematologic malignancies. He is a member of the American Association of Blood Banks, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Telemedicine Association. Dr. Galamaga earned his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania, and a Master of Science in Pharmacy Sciences from the University of Maryland in Rockville. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Additionally, Dr. Galamaga completed a fellowship in transfusion medicine and blood banking at the University of Illinois at Chicago, followed by a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. Dr. Galamaga’s research interests include a focus on advances in precision medicine, which allow patients to benefit from highly targeted therapies. Dr. Galamaga has served as principal investigator on numerous clinical trials, which have focused on the use of novel agents and immunotherapy in the treatment of advanced malignancies. His approach to cancer treatment is informed by participation in clinical trials and early adoption of emerging therapies, which show promise in the field of hematology and medical oncology.
