Established in 1913, the Phoenix Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that employs a staff of more than 3,800 full-time sworn officers, volunteers and civilians. It maintains a victim services unit that assists the victims of crimes, including sexual offenses, domestic violence, missing persons, aggravated assault, identity theft, senior citizen abuse and homicide. The Phoenix Police Department operates a police museum that features a collection of artifacts, photographs, and videotaped and oral history related to the police department. The department organizes and supports a variety of community outreach and youth programs, such as Citizens Offering Police Support (C.O.P.S.) and Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.). The Phoenix Police Department is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and is located in Phoenix.
