Arizona voters approved the Phoenix Transit Plan allowing the Phoenix Public Transit Department to add more local and commuter buses and Dial-a-Ride vehicles, increase frequency and hours of service and plan other transit improvements, such as METRO, the regional light rail that will serve Phoenix. As a member of Valley Metro, the department is part of an organization that has more than 57 million boardings each year. The Phoenix Transit Plan supports a variety of services, such as local buses; Phoenix Dial-a-Ride, a paratransit service for people with disabilities and seniors; RAPID, a park-and-ride based commuter service; Express, a Monday through Friday commuter service; ALEX, a plan to improve efficiency on the ALEX route in the Ahwatukee area; Copper Square DASH buses that run between the State Capitol and Copper Square; and transit facilities. Phoenix Public Transit Department is located in Phoenix.
