History
Noor Academy of Arizona (NAA) began as Phoenix Metro Islamic School (PMIS) in 1998, as a project of the Islamic Community Center (ICC) of Tempe, Arizona. It was the first full-time Islamic elementary school in the Phoenix metropolitan area. PMIS initially served Pre K - 3rd grade; responding to community demand they quickly expanded to include grades 4th - 8th. The ICC apartment complex served as the school facility for more than 10 years. In October 2012 with the support of the community and the Islamic Development Bank, Saudi Arabia the PMIS moved to a newly renovated facility located at 1130 W. 23rd Street Tempe, Arizona. In 2013 the PMIS changed its name to Noor Academy of Arizona (NAA). NAA provides a curriculum of traditional academic subjects, Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qur'an.
