The Gilbert Fire Department is responsible for the protection of lives and properties through fire prevention, protection and education. Established in 1923, the department maintains several fire stations and has more than 100 staff members. The Gilbert Fire Department s fire prevention division performs plans review, code compliance, fire investigation, public education and emergency management services. It also offers emergency medical services and advanced life support services through its firefighters. Additionally, the fire department operates a variety of programs, including the Child Passenger Safety Program, Bike Safety Program, Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program and Risk Watch Elementary School Program. In addition, it organizes fire station tours for the public.
