Bill Johnson ran a rebel radio show from a makeshift jail cell in his original Van Buren Street restaurant in Phoenix. He would ramble on to the people of Arizona almost every night until midnight, and people would come from throughout the area to dine and witness his broadcast. The restaurants offer breakfast meals, such as steak and eggs, chicken fried steaks and ham omelets. Its lunch menu consists of soups, sandwiches, burgers and barbecue sandwiches. Smoked barbecue, steaks, home-style meals, seafood and desserts are found on its dinner menu. Bill Johnson s Big Apple Restaurants barbecue sauces, originally sold in large jugs from the restaurants kitchens, are available in supermarkets throughout the Southwest.
