Association for Supportive Child Care, established in 1976 and based in Tempe, Ariz., is a private nonprofit organization that improves the quality of child care throughout the state. The agency receives funds from community donations, government funds, United Way, corporations, and contributions from individuals and foundations. It provides training and education in the area of child care, prepares people for related jobs, supports child care through accreditation programs, and helps parents in finding child care facilities. The association offers meals for children, supports and trains people working for children and family care, supports education of child care professionals, lends toys, equipment, books and resources, and assists child care providers with state certification. It also provides safety training to children and assists refugee families in the state with their child care needs.
