Founded in 1912, the Arizona Corporation Commission is administered by the state government of Arizona. The commission is responsible for regulating public utility operations and facilitating the incorporation of businesses and organizations in the state. The Arizona Corporation Commission also handles matters related to securities regulation and railroad and pipeline safety. The commission s administration division plans, coordinates and directs administrative and fiscal activities. Its hearings division is responsible for conducting public hearings on issues concerning the regulation of public service corporations, sale of securities and registration of nonmunicipal corporations. In addition, the Arizona Corporation Commission s utilities division makes specific recommendations to the commissioners to assist them in reaching decisions regarding service quality and public utility rates and finance.
