Sealaska Timber was formed in 1979, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Sealaska Corporation, to develop and market the resources conveyed to its parent through the passing of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971. The company has operating areas ranging from Chicagof to Prince of Wales Islands in Alaska. It has marketed more than 3.5 billion board feet of timber products to markets worldwide since the company s inception. Primary products marketed by Sealaska Timber include western hemlock, Sitka spruce, western red cedar and Alaska yellow cedar species. Located throughout southeast Alaska, the company has the ability to charter vessels to each of its operating areas and deliver products to its customer s preferred port of discharge in a timely and cost efficient manner. Sealaska Timber is headquartered in Ketchikan, Alaska.
