He started a 12-step fellowship for people with an opiate addiction who are receiving medication-assisted treatment. He believes spirituality is essential in the battle against addiction. His program, Buprenorphine Anonymous, is well attended, with new groups constantly forming. As the recipient of a scholarship from the Georgia Board for Physician Workforce Country Doctor Program, Dr. Zipperer spent several years in the rural parts of Georgia providing comprehensive health care and brings this “country doctor” philosophy to his practice in Alaska.
