Anchorage Fire Department is one of the divisions operated by the city of Anchorage in Alaska. Founded in 1915, the department offers a range of fire prevention and control services for city buildings and facilities. It has more than 10 fire stations across the city. Anchorage Fire Department has several operations, including basic and advanced life support, fire rescue, fire suppression and emergency medical service. The department s fire chiefs and staff operate various mobile intensive care units. It also has a variety of specialized units, including dive, foam, hazardous materials, and mountain and water rescue units. Anchorage Fire Department acts as a point of contact for the public and media regarding emergency incidents and routine departmental activities. The department also provides information to city residents on fire prevention and control procedures.
