Specialties
Licensed, affordable child care is a basic requirement of workforce development for our local community. The YMCA Child Development Services program is comprehensive, beginning with the Y's Way to The Creative Curriculum including subjects such as literacy, science, math, social studies, art, and technology taught in age-appropriate doses. All of our child development programs have trained, caring and experienced staff, and nutritious meals and snacks are approved by the Child and Adult Care Food Program. In addition, we incorporate daily fitness in children and promote the Y's core character values of caring, honesty, responsibility, and respect.
History
Heart of the Valley YMCA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in Huntsville in 1910 by dedicated individuals who believed that strong communities are built by strong children within strong families. The YMCA has helped textile mill workers improve their families' living conditions, guided young men and women as they built their athletic abilities through a myriad of sports programs, nurtured young children enrolled in YMCA child care programs, supported our Military through free membership and child care, and provided kids from all walks of life with a lifetime of character-building experiences.
