History
The Foundry was incorporated as Bessemer Rescue Mission in 1971 to offer refuge to homeless and transient men. In 1996, Rev. Bill Heintz became the executive director with a vision to provide a place for men and women addicted to drugs and alcohol to permanently transform their lives through the power of Jesus Christ. In 2004, the organization was renamed The Foundry Rescue Mission and Recovery Center. It was renamed again in 2013 to The Foundry Ministries to better reflect the scope of services provided to persons in the Birmingham metropolitan and beyond.
