About Premier Gymnastics Our Mission Our mission is to provide a fun and exciting environment where children can maximize their physical fitness and self-esteem. While the children are experiencing the joys of gymnastics, they are also developing social skills, respect for others, and the ability to handle success and failure. Our goal is to not only enhance the physical abilities of a child, but to provide the building blocks of confidence for their future. About The Owner Premier Gymnastics Academy, Inc is owned and operated by Sheryl Dundas Thienpont. Sheryl has been actively involved in gymnastics for over 30 years. Originally from Austin, Texas, Sheryl was a 5-year member of the USA National Gymnastics Team. She traveled the world competing for the USA, including China, France, England, Italy and West Germany. Some of her accomplishments include being a member of the USA's 1989 World Championship Team and being an alternate to the 1988 USA Olympic Team. In 1990, Sheryl received a gymnastics scholarship to the University of Alabama. She received All-American honors and helped the Tide claim the 1991 NCAA National Championship title. While at the University, Sheryl earned Academic All-American status all 4 years. After graduating cum laude with an accounting degree and working as an accountant in several different industries, Sheryl decided it was time to come back to the sport of gymnastics. In 1997, Sheryl became a National rated judge and in 2001, Sheryl obtained her International Brevet judging status, which is the highest ranking level in the world.. She has traveled throughout the country judging both age-group, Elite, and NCAA gymnastics. In March 2003, Sheryl opened Premier Gymnastics, seeking to give every child the opportunity to receive the benefits of the sport she so loves.
