The Extradition Office, a part of the Legal Service Division, processes subjects taken into custody and placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility. It serves the residents of Montgomery County in Alabama. The office handles more than 400 subjects annually. The Legal Service Division is comprised of civil process, warrants, identification, records, probate transport, bookkeeping and court security offices. The division provides various legal papers related to subpoenas, lawsuits, evictions and executions. Additionally, it is responsible for the collection, preservation and maintenance of records related to criminal offenses. The division processes warrants, pistol permits and civil litigations. It has a staff of over 50 employees and nearly 30 sworn officers. The Legal Service Division is a part of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, which also maintains administrative and criminal investigation and patrol divisions.
