Founded in 1982, The Mobile Airport Authority owns and operates the Mobile Regional Airport and Brookley Complex. The authority is responsible for overseeing the development of aircraft services and real estate at the two facilities. It is not a part of the city or county and receives no local taxes. The agency is provided operating funds through income and federal grants. Its income includes rental fees from airlines, car rental companies, parking lots and providers of food services. It offers police, fire protection, maintenance, customer services, shuttle service, airline stations, aviation operations and engineering. The Mobile Airport Authority is headquartered in Mobile, Ala.
