Based in Opelika, Ala., East Alabama Mental Health Center is a public nonprofit corporation established in 1967. It provides a continuum of mental and behavioral health services. The center offers its services for persons with a serious emotional disturbance, developmental delay, mental illness, mental retardation, and substance abuse problem. In collaboration with consumers, families, community representatives and other agencies, it provides primary prevention services, mental and behavioral health leadership, consultation, education, and research services. The center also provides prevention services to at-risk children and adults to enhance the development of life management skills. It offers a wide range of services, such as outreach, emergency, case management and inpatient psychiatric services. East Alabama Mental Health Center s various programs that include indigent drug, child in need of supervision intervention, substance abuse prevention and court referral programs.
