Browning
Mr. Joe Ed Browning had a vision back in the early 40's, to own his own flooring company. So he acted on his vision and started J.E. Browning Flooring Company. With the help of his sons and a few employees, his fledgling company quickly grew into the leading hardwood flooring company in Mobile, AL. His policy was to produce quality work and provide quality materials, and you will have customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. At times Mr. Browning would stop by a job site, and not being satisfied, have the men start the job over. This usually occurred at the objection of the customer, who seemed very happy with the work, it wasn't, however, up to Mr. Browning's standards. When Mr. Browning started his company, all of the sons worked with him; five in all. Of the five sons, three remain with the company. Over the years, two sons have owned the company; Joe Ed Browning Jr. and Bobby Browning, and they remained together for twenty years. Bobby decided he had his own vision of owning a flooring company. He sold his share of the company to his brother, and started his own company with Mrs. Gloria Browning and his son Stanley. They settled down into the current location at 511 Holcombe Ave. and in 1976 opened for business as Bobby Browning Flooring Co. They started off very successfully in hardwood flooring. Shortly after opening, another son, Michael, joined the company, and over the years they ventured into carpet, vct, ceramic tile, gym floors, brick floors, and specialty floors. They started into the commercial market and would have up to two million in contracts in the commercial side alone. With hardwood flooring taking a sharp rise in the market and with all indications showing that wood flooring would only grow, the owners decided to close the commercial side and return back to its roots, which were installing, sanding, and finishing hardwood flooring. In the last five years, the wood flooring industry has grown every year and we have grown with the industry. With the help from our customers from forty years ago to the present, we have remained at the top of the industry. With the high standards Bobby Browning has established, we will continue to give our customers quality workmanship and quality products. Our company has recently taken another turn and changed its name to Browning Brothers Flooring Company Inc. and at the helm are Stanley and Michael Browning. Mr. Bobby and Mrs. Gloria are still with the company and will remain stewards of the company. Now in its third generation, and showing no signs of slowing, we will remain dedicated to providing our customers with the highest quality work, products and customer satisfaction. We have added another addition and a fourth generation to the company, while attending college, Kristen will work in our office.
