The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources manages and oversees Alabama s state resources with regard to hunting, fishing, boating, outdoor activities, state parks, public lands and a variety of licenses. It also provides special programs, such as the Alabama Aquatic Biodiversity Center, the Alabama Clean Waters Initiative, the Abandoned Crab Trap Program and the Waterfowl Stamp Art Contest. The department engages in a variety of research and management activities, including conservation strategies, task forces for nuisance species, assistance to private landowners, studies of species of special concern, regulations pertaining to prohibited possession of certain animals, state wildlife grants, and fish stocking and hatchery activities.
