The Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority, also known as BJCTA, provides fixed-route and demand response services to various municipalities. Founded in 1972, it serves residents in Birmingham, Bessemer, Fairfield, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Hoover, and Vestavia Hills in Alabama. The Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority provides Americans with Disabilities Act compliant paratransit services to eligible persons with disabilities who are unable to board, ride and disembark from an accessible vehicle in its regular bus service.
