Alabama Farmers Cooperative produces fertilizer, feed, grain, crop protection products and other farm supply products for members in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Florida. AFC has more than 75 member cooperative stores in Alabama and Florida. The company is governed by local, farmer-owned cooperatives. Each member co-op shares in the financial proceeds from AFC operations and benefits from the research and marketing services of the entire co-op system. AFC is a member of the National Council of Farmers Cooperatives. The company is also a major stockholder in Coahoma Warehousing, a public warehousing company located in Clarksdale, Miss. It is a distributor for and major stockholder in Mississippi Chemical Corporation, a producer of phosphate and potash fertilizers and the south's largest manufacturer of nitrogen fertilizer products. The cooperative was founded in 1936 and has headquarters in Decatur, Ala.
